Mariners' Church

image-description-here

Mariners’ is teaming up with “Feed The Children” (FTC). FTC partners with major food companies who provide them with food at low or no cost for the benefit of those in need. They assemble boxes which contain food items to feed a family of 4 for one full week. They also provide pre‐packed boxes of personal care items (PCI) for each family.

As we team up with FTC, they provide the above-mentioned items and we, as a church, pay for transporting the items to us so that we can reach out to our community. Each tractor-trailer contains 400 boxes of food & 400 boxes of PCI. For 2010, Mariners’ is planning to order 4 tractor-trailers. Due to the relationship between FTC and these food companies, we will be able to distribute between $140,000 to $200,000 worth of food & personal care items for only $32,400 ($8,100 per truckload) all in the name of JESUS!

Let’s take our gifts to those who need them!

As residents of the Annapolis area and surroundings, we know that we live in an affluent area. What we often neglect to see are the thousands of people behind closed doors who are struggling to put food on the table.

Consider the following:

▪ In the United States 1 out of every 8 people live below the National Poverty level, which is defined as an annual income of $19,971 for a family of 4.
▪ This dollar figure translates to $13.72 per person to live on each day.
▪ According to the U.S. census bureau of 2006 over twenty‐two thousand people in Anne Arundel County live below the national poverty level.

Galatians 2:10 “Their only suggestion was that we keep on
helping the poor, which we have always been eager to do.”

Matthew 7:12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to
do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in
the law and the prophets.”

Matthew 23:37‐38 “Jesus replied,‘You must love the Lord
your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally
important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Psalm 9:18 “But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes
of the poor will not always be crushed.”
